Ngohe 4 - Mātauranga māori me te whakaaro ahurea

Mātauranga Māori me te Whakaaro Ahurea

Māori student achievement levels are low, and they are overrepresented in lower track and in special education programs for behavioural issues. Māori are more likely than other students to leave school early with fewer formal qualifications and are less likely to enrol in university-level education (Bishop et al., 2009).
Kare i kitea e te Kawanatanga o taua wa ko te raru nui ko te punaha a te pakeha me te ao maori e tukituki ana. He aha te take?

He kura kaupapa māori hoki taku kura. He kura reo māori i ngā wā katoa, he kura whakaako i ngā tikanga o Ngati Porou. Ko te tuāpapa o te kura nei ko Te Aho Matua. Kei roto nā ngā mātāpono, ngā kaupapa here me ngā aratohu (guidelines) mo te whānau me ngā Kaiako. Ko te whānau tonu te Poari Whakahaere (BOT) o te kura.

Ka puta te pātai - me pēhea te kura e mōhio ai he whakaaro ahurea (cultural responsiveness) kei roto i tana kitenga (vision), te kōrero ārahi (mission) me ngā uaratanga?

Kapi katoa ngā hiahia ahurea o ngā tamariki e Te Aho Matua.
